FAQS

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo used to fill in sparse areas of the eyebrows or to fully reconstruct eyebrows. Once the color and shape is decided, small hair-like strokes are created with pigment on the upper layer (epidermis) of skin, creating fine, realistic and natural hair strokes. It looks most natural on clients who have full brow hair, and are wanting to perfect their shape and add natural fullness.

This is not an ideal service for those with little natural hair, hair that is patchy, or coarse hair. Microblading heals best on young, normal/dry skin. Those with combination/oily or aging skin are not candidates for microblading, and are better suited for a combination or powder brows. Numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure, so pain is very minimal.

All procedures (microblading/combo/powder/ombre brows) are a two-step process. After initial visit, it is strongly recommended to come in for a 6-8 week touch-up. This session will fill in any gaps after brows have healed and pigment has settled.

What are Combination Brows?

Combination brows combines microblading strokes with machine shading. Like microblading, results typically last several years depending on your skin type. If you have naturally sparse brow hair or uneven brow growth, a combination brow is perfect for you. It is also ideal for those looking for a more defined or filled in brow. We can add as much or as little shading for desired look. This is a great option for all skin types (including oily/aging skin), and heals very soft and beautiful.

What are Powder/Ombre Brows?

Unlike microblading or a combination brow, a powder brow (also known as an ombre brow) has no hair strokes and is made up entirely of machine shading. It is ideal for all skin types.

When doing a powder brow, a single needle tattoo machine implants small dots of pigment below the skin. These dots are layered on top of each other until the desired amount of saturation is achieved. We can add as much or as little shading as desired for a super natural look or a more defined look. Ideal for clients that have oily skin, large pores, uneven brow hair growth, or very coarse hair.

Like the other brow styles, a powder brow is semi-permanent and will fade over time. However, this style typically lasts the longest, creates the least amount of trauma, and fades the best over time. Powder brows may look intense at first, but the results heal to a soft, powdery finish. If you fill in your brows every day, want the least amount of maintenance, or want even results that last, powder brows are for you!

Microblading Healing Process

Typically the healing process for microblading lasts 6 weeks. The first few days your eyebrows may appear much darker, do not worry, this is normal (brows may also appear a warmer color at this point in the healing process). At about day 7, minimal scabbing will occur, do not pick at the scabs as this will result in loss of pigment. During this time brows may look spotty or patchy. Around day 14, most scabbing will be complete and your brows may look very light.  Over the next 4-6 weeks the epidermis will continue to heal and the softened pigment will begin to appear more clearly on the surface of skin. Once you come back for your touch-up appointment, you will then leave with the perfect set of eyebrows you have always dreamed of.

How Long Does it Last?

Permanent makeup is designed to fade over time, but is still considered a tattoo. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of the tattoo.

The sun and some kinds of lighting (tanning beds) can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down.  Following the given aftercare instructions is critical to getting your best healed results, and touch-up your brows every 12-24 months (as needed). Touch-ups are normal and expected for permanent cosmetics.

*Please note that final results vary and CANNOT be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A follow-up appointment is recommended 6-8 weeks after your initial session where we can assess your pigment retention and perfect your permanent makeup.

Aftercare Instructions

Day of Procedure-

  • After the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid.

  • Do this until the oozing has stopped.

  • Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids.

(Days 1-7)

  • Gently wash the area each morning and night with water and After Soap (provided by MW Microblade). With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the area in the direction of brow hair.

  • Rinse gently but thoroughly to ensure all soap is washed off.

  • To dry, gently pat with a clean towel. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

  • Apply a tiny, rice grain size amount (bewtween both brows) of provided ointment 3 times a day with a cotton swab or fingers and spread it across the treated area.

  • Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.

Important Reminders:

  • Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

  • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure.  Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days. Only get eyebrows wet when washing morning and night.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days,

  • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area (while healing).

  • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

  • Do not use retinols on brow area, this will cause fading
